Many New Yorkers and their families may qualify for financial help when buying a plan on the NY State of Health marketplace. In 2016, you may be eligible for tax credits to help you with monthly premium costs depending on your income and family size.
|Family Size||Pre-tax Annual Household Income Up To:|
|For each additional person add:||$16,640|
Additionally, the amount of income you can earn and still qualify for Medicaid is now higher, meaning that you may now qualify even if you didn’t before. Even if you don’t qualify for Medicaid, your child might be eligible for Child Health Plus, a low-cost health plan for kids.
In an effort to create more health insurance options for individuals, there is a new product offered this year — the Essential Plan. The Essential Plan —available only on the NY State of Health marketplace — is offered to those who qualify based on income and other factors. It offers lower premiums, such as $0 or $20 premium, and low copays.
