Healthy New Year’s Resolutions and How to Keep Them

2016 is just days away, and a great time to start thinking about healthy New Year’s resolutions. Simple and achievable goals can be highly effective and will keep you motivated throughout the year. Here are a few tips to help you get started towards a new, healthier you!

Make an appointment for your annual well visit or screening.

Work on your sleep pattern; go to bed at the same time each night, and wake up the same time each morning.

Gather and share family health history to prevent any possible health risks.

Create a new exercise regimen that will improve your overall health and help you feel good. Assess your fitness level and consider your goals. Are you trying to lose weight or gain strength? If you’re looking for extra guidance, consult with your doctor, or see a personal trainer or nutritionist for additional help to get started.

Find a fitness partner. Having someone to workout with will help keep you focused and can help you through the tough period of a new exercise regimen.

Keep track of your resolution in a journal or device. Its visual proof that what you are doing is working.

Most importantly, set small goals before large ones. Healthier living is a journey, and every small step counts. We all need some “wins” to let us know we’re on the right track. Sure, goals for the year are nice, but daily, weekly and monthly goals will help you get there gradually.
