Our Legacy Continues

For 30 years, Frank Branchini had a long and distinguished career at GHI and EmblemHealth as President and CEO. I am honored to take the wheel and continue EmblemHealth’s mission — to provide our members with access to quality, affordable health care.

I’m also excited about the opportunity to tell the EmblemHealth story; how, as one of the largest nonprofit health plans we are leading the transformation to value-based payment and working to make the promise of health care coverage a reality for all New Yorkers. This blog is a new approach for us, allowing us to tell the story of the work we do in real time.

Our work to protect and extend the health of our members and the entire New York community has encouraged EmblemHealth to transition rapidly away from a payment system that writes a check after the fact — no questions asked — to one where two-thirds of our payments to clinicians are prospective and based upon quality performance. We have pioneered care coordination for special populations by establishing innovative centers in neighborhoods to provide healthcare resources to working families, people with disabilities, seniors and Medicaid beneficiaries. We are offering one-stop mobile apps to find a doctor, find a hospital, retrieve a forgotten ID card or pay your bill, and we have a longstanding tradition of partnering with the City and the State to deliver diabetes and asthma education, as well as access to other wellness services.

In short, we are focused on providing access to affordable and accessible care when and where you need it, and by providing value while leveraging our unique strength as a New York neighborhood insurer.

  • At EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care we offer free face-to-face education, social services, fitness, nutrition advice and support to everyone who needs it — not only members, because a healthy community is a better place for everyone to live.
  • Through AdvantageCare Physicians (ACP) we provide access to convenient, coordinated and compassionate health care at 36 locations throughout New York City and Long Island, with services that range from basic emergency care to prevention and specialty care.
  • With tools like our website, mobile app and ‘Health Journeys’ – our personalized online road map to better health – we continue to develop new and effective ways to make the member experience even better.
