AHA Recognizes EmblemHealth for Its Commitment to Employee Health and Wellness

For the fourth consecutive year, the American Heart Association (AHA) has recognized EmblemHealth as a Platinum Level Fit-Friendly Company. The title honors companies throughout the country committed to helping employees improve their overall health by improving eating and exercise habits.

At the center of EmblemHealth’s health and wellness success is the myHealth PATH program. The program was conceived to empower EmblemHealth employees to make changes in their behaviors and adopt healthier habits, by providing them with a wide range of innovative health and wellness offerings.

As a myHealth PATH participant, employees can earn points for the healthy choices they make throughout the year and the positive health outcomes that result. Monetary rewards are given to those who complete a Personal Health Assessment and achieve a certain level of points.

And the results of the program are impressive. According to Smith-Hagman, almost 38 percent of EmblemHealth employees decreased stress levels, 33 percent increased exercise duration, 41 percent improved exercise frequency and 53 percent improved some aspect of their diet.

EmblemHealth is committed to the overall health and wellness of its employees and strives to inspire all to make healthy choices. In addition to physical activity programs, EmblemHealth offers a number of onsite health screenings throughout the year, including mammography, non-lab biometric testing and flu shots.

Ronnie Matsil, Senior Program Specialist, Health & Wellness, commented, “If we’re able to help employees improve their health habits, we’re doing our job.”
