Stony Brook University Hospital, Suffolk County’s only academic medical center, has joined EmblemHealth’s Select Care provider network. Starting November 1 of this year, the hospital will provide covered medical services to Suffolk County plans for individuals and small groups, both on and off the New York State of Health Marketplace.
In addition to the hospital, members will also have network access to University Physicians at Stony Brook — more than 800 physicians and other health care providers offering a comprehensive range of high-quality medical service, from primary care to advanced subspecialty care.
The Select Care Network is a subset of EmblemHealth’s existing HMO network of physicians, hospitals, community health centers and ancillary services. The network’s primary and specialty care providers are carefully chosen based on quality, effectiveness and cost in order to keep members in better health at prices they can afford. As a result of this agreement, thousands of members in Suffolk County will have access to Stony Brook University Hospital and University Physicians at Stony Brook on an in-network basis.
EmblemHealth believes in providing members with quality hospitals and physicians to meet their health care needs. Since entering the New York State of Health Marketplace, Emblem’s primary goal has been to provide the correct mix of physicians and hospitals to meet the needs of our increasingly diverse membership. With the addition of Stony Brook University Hospital and University Physicians at Stony Brook, we have strengthened our Select Care Network, offering members greater choice and access to quality care.
