Celebrating a Life’s Work with Family Caregiving

(L to R) Rev. Eric J. Hall, president and CEO, HCCN; Karen Ignagni, president and CEO, EmblemHealth; Rev. Gregory L. Johnson, senior advisor for family caregiving, EmblemHealth and recipient of HCCN’s Lifetime Achievement Award; and Michael Schoen, HCCN’s chairman of the board.

EmblemHealth congratulates Rev. Gregory L. Johnson, senior advisor for family caregiving: office of the CEO, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the HealthCare Chaplaincy Network’s (HCCN) annual Wholeness of Life Gala on November 5.

Karen Ignagni, EmblemHealth’s president and CEO, presented Greg with the prestigious award. In awarding Johnson with a plaque and “Caring for the Human Spirit” medal, Rev. Eric J. Hall, HCCN’s president and CEO, noted that it is fitting that Johnson is receiving the award during National Family Caregivers Month.

Also at the event, HCCN presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to James L. Speyer, M.D., professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and an associate director for strategic planning, network development and public affairs at the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone.

Referring to both honorees, Hall said the Lifetime Achievement Awards are being given to “two notable men who clearly have led the way in health care. Their professional achievements stand on their own. But it is their understanding of the whole individual and the whole family, and, moreover, their compassion that have truly made a difference in the lives of so many.”
