Dr. Ramnarine Explains Zika to Parenting Magazine

Infectious disease specialist, Jotir A. Ramnarine, MD, AdvantageCare Physicians, recently sat down with Parenting.com to explain the Zika virus and what families should look out for during tropical spring break vacations.

“Cases of active Zika transmission have been confirmed in more than 30 countries in the Americas alone, from Mexico and Brazil to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico,” said Ramnarine. “Insect repellent should be worn both outside and in — mosquitos can follow you inside and are happy to bite you wherever they can find you.”

There is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health Advisory for returning travelers from Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Mexico. Visit the CDC’s Areas with Zika to see the most current virus tracking information.
